If a move considered in a country where the language is different from you, at least, you should know at the end to try a few basic courtesies and armed with a phrase book, dictionary, and a willingness unfamiliar with the language their new home.
No one will ask you as one born to arrive when you speak, but a little effort is greatly appreciated by the inhabitants. You’ll find that you will get much better and more accepting of them, if you talk to them at least try in their own language. In fact, they will probably enjoy (in the nicest possible way), correct your mistakes and put at ease.
It is very dangerous to live in a place where you do not understand what is happening around you – you can not be understood, and the simplest tasks can become more difficult can not talk.
I can not imagine why someone does not make the effort to integrate into their new environment, but to get to as many people in a foreign country does not even bother, the language of their new home. You are assuming they make themselves understood in a position, either by shouting, speaking very slowly, or with your hands. This may work once or twice, but after a while, I’m sure he is very thin with the local population.
The lessons in the language of your new home is probably the fastest way to capture basic knowledge, you can bet more vocabulary and your head around the basic grammar and verbs.
But as they say, you have to use it or lose it. In other words, what is the value of language learning and then just hold until your next lesson?
It is difficult, I know, but the best thing to do is put you in situations where you must speak the language.
For example, if you leave them to you every person you meet in their own language to talk to say – even if you just say “Hi – how are you today” to go to the local bars and restaurants and see how you know only by listening to conversations. Even if it lasts long, try asking what you want, without having to call, talk slow, or hand signals.
You can feel like a nervous wreck at first, but the real joy that most people will be on site to show you when you hear try to speak their language, you feel much better.
It takes some time to become fluent in a different language. Even with instruction, they say that the only way to talk, really like a native, to spend time with them, live where they live and to live as they live.
In fact, it is correct to say that a high percentage of people never fluent, but they can speak and understand that they get by fairly well when needed. For example, a visit to a doctor or a bank two examples of situations where it pays to be understood to mean what you said.
Of course, not everyone finds it easy to learn a new language. It could be because of their age, poor memory, or simply because they seek to grasp the language difficult. If so, they should not be too hard even to himself, because he just simply not for everyone. If they can not, but they’re simply trying to learn some basic words and, unless the phrase book fair next to them, they should be fine.
A tip to though. I strongly recommend that if anyone is considering moving to a foreign country and they do not speak the language, the services of a person, if they ever find themselves in a situation of use where it is necessary that the language is spoken . Not necessarily a professional translator (although to find it much), more like an ex-pat who can help them if they’ll ever need.
Learning a new language for me was one of the most difficult, but certainly one of the most rewarding and enjoyable I’ve ever done. And I’m still learning new things so far – new words, dialect, this kind of thing – but I find it completely fascinating.
One thing is certain. Life is so much better if we integrate fully into a community, and if you do not speak or understand the language, you can not do.
So if you live in a foreign country for fear of speaking aloud, for fear of making a mistake to let your embarrassment hold you back. Open your mouth and speak easy!
I promise you will never see again!
